The Madras High Court on Wednesday granted permission for the BJP's 'Tiranga Rally' in Tamil Nadu, directing the state government to refrain from prohibiting such activities on Independence Day. The directive includes motorcycle, bicycle, and walking rallies involving the national flag.
Justice G Jayachandran issued the orders while responding to a petition from A Krishna Prasath, BJP Yuva Morcha Coimbatore district secretary, who challenged a police decision to deny permission for a 200-bike rally. The court emphasized the need for participants to respect the Indian tricolour and maintain public order.
R C Paul Kanagaraj, representing the petitioner, confirmed the ruling applies statewide. Organizers must notify authorities about rally details to ensure police protection. This permission is strictly for Independence Day, aiming to raise awareness about India's independence struggle.
