President William Ruto has called on leaders from various political affiliations to support efforts to unite Kenyans and drive national transformation. Speaking during a three-day development tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties, President Ruto emphasized the importance of putting the nation's needs above personal or political interests.

"This is not the time for disunity or selfish interests. We must focus on Kenya and work together towards transformation, progress, and unity to overcome poverty," President Ruto stated.

During his tour, President Ruto was accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kisii Governor Simba Arati, and various MPs and MCAs. He highlighted several key projects, including the groundbreaking for the KSh3 billion Kisii County Cancer Treatment Centre in Nyaribari Chache Constituency. This 76-bed facility will enhance cancer awareness, prevention, screening, and treatment, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery.

President Ruto also emphasized the government’s commitment to improving healthcare with the Universal Health Coverage programme, which includes the Emergency, Chronic, and Critical Illness Fund designed to alleviate the financial burden of serious illnesses like cancer.

Additionally, he commissioned the Outpatient, Surgical, and Mother and Child units at Keroka Level IV Hospital in Nyamira County and launched the Nyaribari Masaba Affordable Housing Project in Ekerubo, Kisii County. The Affordable Housing Programme aims to build 10,000 units in Kisii County to address land fragmentation and improve housing conditions.

On infrastructure, President Ruto announced a KSh650 million investment to connect 10,000 households in Nyamira County under the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Programme. He also unveiled plans to tarmac Metembe-Ngenyi/Bobaracho-Ititi/Rioma-Nyaore/Marani-Nyakoe roads, with an allocation of KSh4.5 billion to enhance transport infrastructure in the region.

Deputy President Gachagua expressed full support for the Cabinet Secretaries appointed by President Ruto, including those from the ODM party, reinforcing a unified approach to governance. Governor Arati praised the President for his efforts to unite the country, emphasizing that unity is crucial to prevent suffering among ordinary Kenyans.

President Ruto’s tour underscores the government’s focus on development, unity, and the betterment of Kenyan lives through strategic investments in healthcare, housing, and infrastructure.
