Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has demanded the immediate arrest and punishment of those involved in the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Chowdhury claimed that the incident highlighted the dire state of law and order in West Bengal under TMC rule.
Chowdhury extended full support for the planned midnight protests across the state, urging Congress workers to join as ordinary citizens rather than political representatives.
Speaking at a protest rally, Chowdhury emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and severe punishment for the perpetrators. He described the crime as a brutal attack on not just the victim, but on the culture, education, and civilization of Bengal. He also criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for failing to meet with the protesting doctors and students and for not ensuring women's safety.
