In an unprecedented move, former ISI chief General (Retd) Faiz Hameed has been arrested in connection with a high-profile housing scam. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed additional arrests of three retired military officers as investigations continue.

Hameed, who led the Inter-Services Intelligence from 2019 to 2021, was detained following accusations by a private property developer of misusing official authority. According to the ISPR, the military's public affairs arm, more retired officers are currently under scrutiny for actions detrimental to military discipline.

Tarar lauded the military's decision, emphasizing its commitment to self-accountability and countering instability. The trial against Hameed, described as one of the most significant in Pakistan's history, challenges the perception of untouchability among high-ranking officers in the country.
