Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in Odisha's Mayurbhanj District

A local court in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district handed down a life imprisonment sentence to Rajesh Mohanta for the murder of an elderly man, further imposing a fine of Rs 50,000.

Rajesh Mohanta was found guilty of killing 65-year-old Anil Mohanta due to a prior enmity. The violent incident happened on March 25, 2023, in Nedabhadi village, located in the Jharpokhria police station area.

According to Additional Public Prosecutor Krushna Chandra Das, the case, registered under Section 302 of the IPC, was proven based on the testimonies of 16 witnesses and corroborating medical reports.
