A mob of approximately 20-30 unidentified people attacked Sohan Lal, a priest, on Thursday after he objected to them washing utensils used for non-vegetarian food outside the Srinath Charan Chowki temple in Motipura village.
According to Lal's complaint, he and his companions had to lock themselves inside the temple to escape the assailants who threatened to kill him and bomb the temple. The priest reported that some individuals from the Muslim community had cooked non-vegetarian food at a neighboring dargah and insisted on cleaning their utensils at a water reservoir outside the temple.
Kaithun Deputy Superintendent of Police, Beni Prasad, stated that a case has been filed under section 298 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act. Meanwhile, Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists submitted a memorandum to the Inspector General's office, demanding swift action against the alleged attackers.
