ULFA Bomb Scare: Police Seize Explosive Devices Across Assam

Two 'IED-like devices' were discovered in Guwahati on Friday, raising the total number of 'bomb-like substances' seized across Assam in the last 24 hours to ten. This followed a claim by the banned ULFA (I) outfit, which said it had planted 24 explosives to trigger serial blasts in the state.

A minor was detained by Lakhimpur Police for questioning, and extensive search operations were conducted in various locations, including the Panitola residence of Anup Chetia, a former self-styled general secretary of ULFA who signed a peace accord with the government last year, according to officials.

The United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) sent an email to media houses, including PTI, on Thursday, revealing the exact locations of 19 bombs, though five spots remained unidentified. The blasts were planned for Thursday morning but did not occur due to technical failures. The group has asked for public assistance in defusing the devices.
