Himachal CM Inaugurates Swamitva Yojana, Distributes Property Cards

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the Swamitva Yojana, distributing property cards to villagers, emphasizing rightful ownership of land in Abadi Deh areas. The program involves extensive drone-assisted mapping and aims to streamline land records and departmental operations, enhancing public convenience and encouraging local self-reliance.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the Swamitva Yojana on Friday, distributing property cards under the scheme in a ceremonial event.

The initiative, led by the Revenue Department, seeks to provide rightful ownership cards to villagers occupying land in Abadi Deh areas. The chief minister handed property cards to 10 families each from 11 tehsils, with over 4,230 families from 190 villages slated to receive their cards in the first phase.

Sukhu emphasized that the primary goal of the Swamitva Yojana is to grant ownership rights to landholders in Abadi Deh areas, significantly easing their access to official land records. The scheme’s implementation involved drone-assisted mapping across 13,599 out of 15,196 Abadi Deh villages in the state, with the Indian Survey Department providing first-level maps for 6,314 villages.

Sukhu stated that Hamirpur district has set a national precedent by being the first to grant these ownership rights. Efforts have been made to streamline the Revenue Department's operations, including changes to the Land Revenue Code and the processing of 1.57 mutation cases within six months.

The chief minister also called on well-off citizens and hoteliers to forgo government subsidies to support state self-reliance. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for a new Tax and Excise Department colony and inaugurated the Bharari-Nandhan-Plassey road.
