Yogesh Bahadur Khurania Takes Charge as Odisha DGP
IPS officer Yogesh Bahadur Khurania has assumed the role of Odisha DGP, succeeding A K Sarangi. Senior IPS officer Yogesh Bahadur Khurania officially assumed the role of Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) on Friday, following a notification from the home department.
Khurania, a 1990-batch officer, succeeds A K Sarangi, who had held the post since December 2023. Upon his arrival at the Cuttack state police headquarters, Khurania received a guard of honor and was formally welcomed by senior police officers. Outgoing DGP Sarangi handed over the charge to Khurania in a brief ceremony attended by top IPS officials.
In his first statement as DGP, Khurania emphasized his commitment to providing better services to the people of Odisha. He stressed the importance of maintaining courteous behavior, improving crime investigations, controlling law and order, and addressing the rising trend in cybercrimes through scientific methods. Khurania returned to Odisha after serving as Special DG in the Border Security Force, having previously held several key positions within the state police force.
