CBI Intensifies Probe in RG Kar Medical College Doctor's Mysterious Death

CBI officers questioned the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, as part of their investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at the health facility. Ghosh arrived at the CBI’s city office at CGO Complex in the morning and was questioned till late in the evening, an official disclosed. One area of focus was Ghosh's actions following the doctor's death, including whom he contacted and why the parents were made to wait nearly three hours before seeing their daughter's body.

Additionally, Ghosh was interrogated about who authorized the renovation of rooms near the seminar hall where the trainee's body was found on August 9. Ghosh, who resigned on August 11, has been questioned intensively over the last three days by central agency officers.

Notably, some of Ghosh's statements conflict with those provided by other individuals being questioned in the case. Investigators are also examining his call records and chat history. Later on Monday, a CBI team visited RG Kar hospital to inspect the Trauma Care Unit and collect samples.

Parallelly, CBI officers questioned Sanjay Roy, an arrested suspect, on Monday to determine if he acted alone. CBI also liaised with Kolkata Police officers previously involved in the case. A local court has approved conducting a polygraph test on Roy, though a date is yet to be set. As per protocol, Roy will be presented before a magistrate to confirm his consent for the test.
