An intense storm has tragically sunk a luxury yacht off Sicily's coast, resulting in the death of one man and leaving six others missing, including prominent British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his daughter. Out of the twenty-two people on board, fifteen managed to escape before the vessel went down.

Known as the founder of Britain's biggest software company, Autonomy, Mike Lynch is a well-recognized figure likened by many to Bill Gates. Lynch, 59, had recently been acquitted in a major accounting scandal involving a deal with Hewlett-Packard. His 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, who was preparing to study English literature at the University of Oxford, is also among the missing.

Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, who owns the yacht, was rescued. Other missing passengers include Jonathan Bloomer, chair of Morgan Stanley International, and his wife Judy, along with American lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda, a luxury jewelry designer. The yachting community remains on edge as search and rescue operations continue.
