The Congress on Thursday organized nationwide protests to call for the removal of SEBI chairperson Madhabi Buch following accusations by Hindenburg Research. Congress leaders are demanding the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe allegations of financial misconduct involving the Adani Group.
Prominent Congress figures, including Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav, Sachin Pilot, and Kanhaiya Kumar, led protests in various states. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other regional leaders also joined the demonstrations, insisting on a transparent investigation into the matter.
In Mumbai, city Congress unit chief Varsha Gaikwad led a protest outside the Enforcement Directorate's office, reiterating the demand for a JPC. The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee staged a similar protest in Guwahati, with state president Bhupen Borah decrying the perceived partisanship of investigative agencies. The Adani Group and Buch have denied the allegations, calling them baseless.
