Separatist militants in Balochistan, Pakistan have launched a series of coordinated attacks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Tuesday. The militants aim to halt development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In a televised address to his cabinet, Sharif emphasized that these militants are trying to drive a wedge between Islamabad and Beijing. Beijing has invested heavily in Balochistan, especially in a deepwater port and a gold and copper mine.
Sharif condemned the attacks and reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining strong Pakistan-China relations despite militant efforts.
