The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started a polygraph test on Kolkata Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Anup Dutta to investigate his alleged links with Sanjay Roy, who was arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
With the permission of a Kolkata court, the CBI aims to uncover whether Roy informed Dutta of the crime or sought favors to cover it up. Dutta is the eighth person to undergo a polygraph test in this case.
This investigation seeks to corroborate evidence that could be pivotal in the trial, though the polygraph results themselves cannot be used as direct evidence.
