Three audio recordings allegedly depicting phone calls from RG Kar Medical College authorities to the parents of a rape-murder victim have stirred controversy. These calls, made in quick succession on August 9, detail a progressively grave situation of the victim's health, culminating in an announcement of her death.
The calls' authenticity has not been verified independently by PTI, yet the shifting narrative—from the victim merely falling ill to being critically ill and finally being reported dead—has raised suspicions about a potential cover-up by the hospital. The caller, identifying as the assistant superintendent, provided minimal details, urging the parents to arrive at the hospital urgently.
This controversy has led to allegations of a schemed plot involving hospital authorities and the police to conceal the true nature of the crime. Notably, the first police diary entry indicating 'unnatural death' was made before the hospital contacted the parents, intensifying public scrutiny and protest over the incident.
