Union Home Minister Amit Shah contacted the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, and Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, on Sunday to assess the heavy rainfall and flooding affecting both states. Shah assured them of the central government's readiness to provide all necessary assistance.
On Sunday, heavy rains battered various parts of Telangana, including the capital, Hyderabad. Chief Minister Reddy convened an emergency meeting with ministers and officials to evaluate the situation. In Andhra Pradesh, unprecedented rainfall over the past two days has disrupted normal life, particularly in Vijayawada, leading to the evacuation of 17,000 residents.
Tragically, a woman died, and three individuals were feared washed away in rain-related incidents in Mahabubabad and Khammam districts of Telangana. Waterlogging on railway tracks led to the cancellation of 99 trains, with four partially canceled and 54 diverted. Following Shah's orders, nine National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been dispatched to Telangana.
