Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday criticized the Telangana government's handling of an alleged attempt to rape and murder a tribal woman, drawing parallels with past high-profile rape cases in Kolkata and Delhi where the victim's ordeal attracted massive public and governmental attention. However, Kumar lamented that the current incident is not getting adequate response because the victim is still alive.

Kumar stressed that the state government is responsible for responding to such incidents with due seriousness, highlighting past incidents in Telangana and accusing AIMIM members of being involved in crimes against women. He noted that neither the previous BRS government nor the current Congress regime adequately addresses these crimes, often viewing them through a communal lens.

Addressing AIMIM's president, Asaduddin Owaisi, Kumar questioned why Owaisi is vocal about protecting properties but not about the alleged attempt to rape and murder. He accused Owaisi of prioritizing the properties of 'his people' over human life and called on police officials to act impartially. The situation in Jainoor town remains tense but under control following protests against the incident.
