A 25-year-old murder accused named Dheeraj was shot at by unidentified assailants while sitting outside his house in Shahdara's Geeta Colony area on Wednesday, according to police reports.

Dheeraj, who had been out on bail in a murder case, suffered two gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital where his condition remains critical.

The police officer in charge reported that Dheeraj was attacked by three or four individuals in the evening. His brother transported him to LNJP hospital on a motorcycle.

An investigation has been launched with a case of attempted murder registered. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers, suspecting the shooting could be due to personal enmity.
