Ahmedpur Police have registered a case against a woman and four accomplices for allegedly throwing acid at her estranged husband, police reported Friday.
While the incident occurred on September 5, the case was officially filed two days ago, said an official.
According to the complaint lodged by Govind Bhagwan Bhikane, the altercation began two weeks prior during a heated argument, which led him to move to Himpalner in Chakur tehsil. On September 5, his sister-in-law informed him that his wife was at her place, threatening self-harm if he did not return.
Upon arriving, Bhikane claims he was attacked by his wife and four others with chili powder before they threw acid at him. Bhikane lost consciousness and awoke the next day at Latur Government Hospital, missing his mobile phone and Rs 15,000 in cash.
The First Information Report has been filed against the wife, her sister, and three others under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 124 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by using acid. The investigation is ongoing, an official confirmed.
