AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj on Tuesday labeled Delhi Police's prohibitory order against any protest or gathering in certain parts of the city as a 'Tughlaqi farmaan,' claiming it was designed to 'ban' Hindu festivals and harass the public.
On Monday, Delhi Police issued a prohibitory order against protests or gatherings of five or more people in central and bordering areas for the next six days, citing law and order concerns. The order falls under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita.
Bharadwaj criticized Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and called for his resignation due to his inability to manage the city's law and order. 'This order is laughable and irresponsible; it has been issued to ban the festivals of Hindus, create chaos, and harass Delhi people,' said Bharadwaj. He questioned why festivals couldn’t be held without restrictions when elections are conducted in other regions. Bharadwaj also mentioned that BJP leaders are not safe, pointing to an extortion message received by a party leader in Uttam Nagar.
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal expressed his concern on X regarding the declining law and order situation in the capital.
