Assam Police Nab 14 Bangladeshi Nationals for Illegal Entry
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the apprehension of 14 Bangladeshi nationals for illegal entry into the state, with nine possessing Aadhaar cards. The operation was conducted in South Salmara-Mankachar and Karimganj districts. The authorities have intensified vigilance following unrest in Bangladesh, capturing 108 infiltrators in total.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday revealed that 14 Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended for illegally entering the state. Notably, nine of the detainees were found in possession of Indian Aadhaar cards.
In a social media post on X, Sarma mentioned that these individuals were apprehended in the South Salmara-Mankachar and Karimganj districts on Tuesday. According to Sarma, the arrests were based on intelligence inputs that led to the capture of these illegal foreign nationals by the Assam Police.
Ever since recent tensions erupted in Bangladesh, Assam has heightened security measures and surveillance, resulting in the apprehension of 108 illegal infiltrators so far. Assam's border districts, including Karimganj, Cachar, and Dhubri, share a 267.5 km long border with Bangladesh and have Integrated Check Posts to control and monitor cross-border activities. DGP G P Singh emphasized that law enforcement agencies would rigorously enforce laws to prevent unauthorized entry while allowing Indian passport holders to return through designated entry points.
