Tragic Blast at Bareilly Firecracker Unit: 3 Dead, Several Injured

At least three people were killed and several injured following an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Bareilly's Sirauli area. The blast also caused significant damage to nearby buildings. The operator, Nasir, reportedly had a licence for another location. A thorough investigation is underway.

At least three people lost their lives and as many suffered injuries in a devastating blast at a firecracker manufacturing unit in a village near Bareilly on Wednesday, according to local police.

The explosion, which occurred in the Sirauli police station area, also inflicted damage on several nearby buildings. Authorities are currently reviewing the licence held by the unit's operator, Nasir.

Inspector General (Bareilly Range) Rakesh Singh informed PTI that Nasir possessed a licence for a different location, while the incident transpired at a house belonging to his in-laws.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences for the lost lives and instructed officials to ensure the injured receive proper treatment.

Senior officers, including IG Singh, rushed to the scene to oversee the relief operations as police, health, and fire department personnel worked swiftly to rescue those affected. Preliminary investigations revealed that Nasir’s licence was meant for another place, despite which operations were carried out from his in-laws' house. Locally-made crackers were identified as the cause of the blast.

A comprehensive investigation is underway, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are thoroughly searching the area to ensure no one remains trapped under the debris.
