On Sunday morning, residents of Delhi's Rohini area were jolted awake by the sound of a loud blast, which could be felt hundreds of metres away. Panic ensued as a strong chemical smell spread, accompanied by thick, white smoke, particularly around Prashant Vihar near a CRPF school.

Despite the absence of injuries, the explosion caused notable damage to property, including school walls, shops, and a nearby car. Concerned parents expressed relief that the incident occurred on a non-school day, contemplating the potential disaster had it happened during a weekday.

Authorities including the fire brigade, police, bomb squad, and teams from the NIA and NSG have cordoned off the area and are investigating the source of the blast, with initial suspicions pointing towards a crude bomb. The atmosphere remains tense as the investigation continues.
