Drone Attacks Ignite Fires at Russian Ethanol Plant and Distilleries
Ukraine launched drone attacks igniting fires at an ethanol plant and damaging distilleries in Russia. No casualties have been reported, and the impact on the strategic ethanol production remains unclear. Russia's defence claims it destroyed 18 Ukrainian drones, though specific sites weren't all confirmed.
In a series of overnight drone attacks, Ukraine targeted several alcohol production sites in Russia, causing explosions and igniting a fire at an ethanol facility, Russian officials announced on Tuesday.
The Biokhim biochemical plant in Russia's Tambov region, a major ethanol producer, was rocked by a blast, leading to a short-lived fire, according to Tambov governor Maxim Yegorov. Thankfully, preliminary reports indicated no casualties.
Despite these incidents, Russia's defence ministry reported shooting down 18 Ukrainian drones but didn't explicitly mention the Tambov region in their report. Ukraine has frequently claimed that its strikes aim at infrastructure critical to Russia's military efforts, highlighting potential strategic targets.
