The Odisha government has made a significant move to enhance its support for women employees by increasing their casual leave entitlement to 27 days per year. Previously, women were granted 15 days of casual leave annually. This initiative stems from a promise made by Deputy CM Pravati Parida during the Independence Day celebrations earlier this year, highlighting the government's commitment to addressing women's unique challenges.
The official note, issued by the Chief Minister's Office on Tuesday, underscores the government's acknowledgment of the dual responsibilities borne by women employees, amid both professional duties and family obligations. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has set forth directives to implement this leave policy change across all government offices in Odisha.
This policy adjustment marks an increase from the 10-day additional leave announced in March by the preceding BJD government. With this new provision, women employees can take up to 27 days of casual leave annually, offering them greater flexibility and support in managing their work-life balance.
