Following a tip-off, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police intercepted 57.9 kg of the illicit substance. Suspects fled, leaving the haul for the police to seize.

Law enforcement agencies have seized methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 173.73 crore at the strategic India-Myanmar border, raising concerns about drug trafficking in the region.

On receiving a credible tip-off, a combined team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police intercepted a significant illicit drug consignment at Zokhawthar on February 9.

The suspected traffickers, however, managed to escape, abandoning 57.9 kg of methamphetamine for the authorities to confiscate. The seized drugs, commonly referred to as 'ice' or 'crystal meth', have been handed over for further investigation and legal steps.
