Justice Served: Security Guard Sentenced for Heinous Crime

A Maharashtra court has sentenced a security guard to 10 years in prison for raping a 64-year-old mentally-challenged woman in 2021. The accused, Mohammad Guddu, was fined Rs 65,000. Evidence, including nine witnesses, confirmed his crimes. Compensation will be paid to the victim's brother.

In a significant judgment, a court in Maharashtra's Thane district has sentenced a security guard to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. The ruling comes in response to the 2021 rape of a 64-year-old mentally-challenged woman.

Additional sessions judge D S Deshmukh also imposed a fine of Rs 65,000 on the accused, Mohammad Guddu alias Dilkash Mohammad Habibulla Shaikh, who has been convicted under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape and sexual harassment.

The prosecution, led by Additional Public Prosecutor Sandhya H Mhatre, presented compelling evidence, including medical reports and the testimonies of nine witnesses. This evidence confirmed the brutal crime, which occurred after the accused deceitfully entered the victim's residence. Despite the victim's passing prior to the trial, justice was served, with compensation awarded to her brother.
