Heist in CBI’s Temporary Tripura Quarters Raises Eyebrows

The CBI is returning a state-owned quarters in Agartala after thieves allegedly stole doors, windows, and furniture. The premises was never used as an official office or for residence by CBI staff. An FIR was filed, and suspects have been apprehended by the Tripura police.

In a bizarre turn of events, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced the return of its temporary quarters in Agartala to the Tripura government following a peculiar theft. Thieves reportedly made off with doors, windows, furniture, and other materials from the premises.

Clarifying the situation, the agency emphasized that this location was never used as a CBI office but was a temporary accommodation for visiting staff. It was secured soon after the Chit Funds Scam cases came under the agency's jurisdiction in 2023.

According to a CBI spokesperson, no important documents or case properties were stored or taken during the incident. The stolen items were from furniture provided by the state government. With suspects arrested and some stolen items recovered, the unused quarters are being handed back to the state.
