Brazilian Justice Halts Rumble, Cites Noncompliance in Legal Saga

A Brazilian Supreme Court justice ordered the suspension of video-sharing platform Rumble in Brazil on Friday, citing its alleged failure to comply with local laws and court orders.

Justice Alexandre de Moraes had earlier given Rumble a 48-hour deadline to appoint a legal representative in Brazil but received no response. He criticized the platform for ignoring orders to remove the account of Allan dos Santos, a fugitive supported by former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Rumble, describing the move as "unprecedented censorship in Brazil," is exploring legal challenges. It argues that the demand conflicts with U.S. free speech rights. The platform, founded in 2013, faces accusations of allowing far-right extremism. The decision similar to a previous action against Elon Musk's X platform highlights ongoing tensions in digital governance.
