In a tragic incident, two class 12 students lost their lives while bathing in a river in Jaunpur district on Saturday afternoon. Police reported that the bodies were retrieved and sent for a post-mortem examination.

Circle Officer (City) Devesh Singh explained that Abhinav, 18, from Reethi village, along with his neighbors Sahil, 19, and Vishal had gone for a bath in the Sai river. During the activity, Sahil began drowning in the middle of the stream. Abhinav made a valiant attempt to save him, but unfortunately, both drowned.

Their friend Vishal raised the alarm, attracting nearby villagers to the scene. After a 30-minute rescue mission, the boys were taken from the water but, regrettably, were declared dead upon reaching a nearby clinic.
