The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has unveiled a new house-tax waiver scheme to provide financial relief and enhance transparency in tax collection. The plan was announced during a press conference by key AAP officials, including MCD Mayor Mahesh Khichi, Deputy Mayor Ravinder Bhardwaj, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh.
Under the scheme, properties measuring up to 100 square yards, including residential shops, will be fully exempted from house tax starting in the next fiscal year. Meanwhile, houses between 100 and 500 square yards will receive a 50 percent waiver, and 1,300 previously ineligible housing societies will now qualify for a 25 percent rebate.
The tax-waiver initiative aims to ease the financial burden on homeowners while reducing corruption rampant in tax collections. By bringing transparency to the system, the civic body hopes to eliminate bribes that have plagued the administration for years. AAP leaders emphasize this move as a commitment to the welfare of common citizens.
