In a stark criticism of Maharashtra's current law and order situation, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut drew parallels between a recent rape in Pune and the infamous 2012 Delhi gang rape. He questioned the proactive measures of district guardian minister Ajit Pawar amidst a spike in crimes against women.
Raut emphasized that if Maharashtra was under the leadership of the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi, there would have been significant protests led by BJP women leaders. The accused in the Pune incident, Dattatray Ramdas Gade, remains unapprehended as of now.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde deemed the incident 'unfortunate and condemnable,' vowing to bring the accused to justice. The state government has promised stringent action, including potential capital punishment, to ensure public safety.
