On Sunday, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind declared its support for the All India Muslim Personal Law Board's protest against the controversial Waqf (Amendment) Bill. The group asserts that the legislation is forcing Muslims into the streets to defend their rights and ancestral Waqf properties from government interference.
Maulana Arshad Madani, head of the Jamiat, announced that all state branches of the organization will challenge the bill in high courts if passed. Emphasizing that peaceful protests are a democratic right, he voiced plans to appeal to the Supreme Court, maintaining that the judiciary remains a final recourse for justice.
The Jamiat contends that the amendment undermines Muslim rights and accuses political parties of prioritizing political interests over constitutional principles. The group calls for substantial turnout at demonstrations to emphasize commitment to defending community rights against what they see as a betrayal by secular parties.
