A hotel in the Somali town of Baladweyne has become the latest scene of violence as gunmen launched an attack on Tuesday, sparking a siege. Eyewitnesses reported the situation to Reuters amid mounting fear and uncertainty.

Federal lawmaker Dahir Amin Jesow, who comes from the troubled town, confirmed that the number of fatalities had reached four, but added that the toll might rise as they continue to tally the victims.

Although the attackers have yet to be positively identified, Islamist militant group al Shabaab is notorious for executing similar terror strikes in Somalia, targeting civilian spots with bombings and gunfire.
