A catastrophic fire in East Delhi's Anand Vihar claimed the lives of three men, among them two siblings, as their makeshift dwelling was engulfed in flames, authorities reported.
The Delhi Police have lodged an FIR against unidentified individuals for negligence under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with multiple teams tasked with probing the incident. The fire began around 2:22 am, and though firefighters quickly subdued the flames, the three men succumbed inside the hut.
The deceased, who had been living near a DDA plot, were identified as Jaggi, and siblings Shyam Singh and Kanta Prasad, believed to have succumbed to asphyxiation. Fire investigators suspect a diesel container might have sparked the fire, while a gas cylinder explosion further intensified the blaze, according to authorities. Despite surviving, a laborer named Nitin witnessed the tragedy unfold, narrowly escaping the inferno.
