The body, discovered with hands and legs tied near Sarola village, sparked an investigation by local authorities. During the post-mortem examination, it was revealed that the man had been strangled. Initially unidentified, his identity was established through a garment tag found on his shirt, tracing back to a tailor in Darashiv.

The deceased was identified as Sidheshwar Bhosale from Sasanenagar, Pune. Allegedly, Bhosale's wife, Yogita Bhise, and her lover, Shivaji Sutar, saw him as an obstacle to their affair. They executed a plan to strangle him, conceal his body in a gunny bag, and dump it in the river. Both accused have been remanded into police custody pending further investigation.
