Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, issued a statement on Wednesday addressing misinformation spread by TV channels and news portals about alleged new liquor vend allocations by his government.
Contrary to these reports, the government clarified that no additional liquor vends will be introduced in the 2025-26 auction beyond the existing 305 shops, unchanged since 2023.
The J-K Excise Policy specifies that 305 wine shops are slated for e-auction, with 271 already allotted. Remaining locations are re-auctioned, with the process concluding on March 17.
