A devastating explosion at the Ordnance Factory in Maharashtra's Bhandara district on January 24 resulted in nine fatalities, allegedly due to negligence in machine repairs, according to officials. The FIR filed on March 8 names four officials from the defense production unit, accused of mishandling sensitive tasks.

The incident also left four individuals injured, prompting police action based on a probe committee's findings. The named officials include Devendra Meena, Aadil Farooqui, Anandrao Faye, and Sanjay Dhapade, alongside some unnamed others, for allegedly neglecting repairs of critical machinery in the LTPE section.

The inquiry revealed that deteriorated conditions of the Extrumix machine led to the blast, exacerbated by trainees being placed in sensitive roles. Charges were made under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for death by negligence and endangering safety.
