The Kerala Labour Minister, V Sivankutty, has announced that workers at the Elston Estate in Wayanad will receive Rs six crore as part of relief measures amid the estate's acquisition for landslide survivor rehabilitation.
According to the Minister, the estate management agreed to provide the relief amount after discussions with Labour Department officials and other stakeholders. The financial package includes provident fund arrears, bonuses, and statutory gratuities for eligible laborers.
The compensation is part of a broader government initiative to acquire land for constructing a township to rehabilitate survivors from Wayanad's landslide-affected regions, supported by funds from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund.
