Four U.S. Army soldiers have disappeared in Lithuania while participating in a training exercise, prompting a joint search operation by Lithuanian and American authorities. The incident was announced by the U.S. embassy in Vilnius on Wednesday.
The soldiers went missing in a training area near Pabrade in eastern Lithuania, close to the Belarusian border. The U.S. embassy used social media platform X to inform the public but did not specify when the soldiers were last accounted for.
The missing personnel are from the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, and were engaged in scheduled tactical training when they disappeared. Both American and Lithuanian forces are actively conducting search and recovery efforts.
