Operation Abhyas: Testing Preparedness in Uttar Pradesh

In a coordinated effort to evaluate emergency preparedness, all districts in Uttar Pradesh, including its capital Lucknow, launched comprehensive civil defense drills on Wednesday evening under 'Operation Abhyas'. These exercises were conducted amid Indian military operations targeting terror camps in response to a recent attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, including that of a Nepali national.
The extensive demonstration in Lucknow included Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath observing a drill involving a citywide blackout and simulations of crises such as fires and structural collapses. Key political figures joined him while security and disaster teams showcased their response capabilities. Adityanath urged citizens to prioritize national security and support security forces with vigilance and unity.
Across Uttar Pradesh, similar exercises were conducted in various cities, with educational institutions in Meerut participating actively. These drills aimed at educating citizens on emergency protocols. In his address, Adityanath lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their swift action against recent threats and called for increased public alertness.
