The Ministry of Minority Affairs is making strides in digital governance with the UMEED portal, aimed at transforming the management of Waqf properties across India. Collaborating with states and union territories, the initiative strives for transparency and efficiency.
Minority Affairs Secretary Chandra Shekhar Kumar's visit to Maharashtra underscored the ministry's commitment. He discussed implementation strategies with state officials and sought active participation to meet statutory requirements, highlighting flexibility in leasing regulations to strengthen Waqf Boards.
Beyond UMEED, Kumar evaluated the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram's progress and praised the successful execution of Haj 2025, noting significant improvements in pilgrim welfare due to effective coordination and the digital Haj Suvidha App. The ministry remains dedicated to enhancing both Waqf management and pilgrimage experiences.
