Saquib Nachan, a controversial figure due to his ties with the disbanded Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and the ISIS-linked Pune module case, was laid to rest in Bhiwandi, Thane. His passing, which occurred following a brain haemorrhage at a Delhi hospital, drew significant attention given the backdrop of his criminal past.
Nachan's funeral in Padgha-Borivali village saw the attendance of around 2,000 individuals, despite tight security measures, including a deployment of 500 policemen. Police presence was heightened to prevent any disturbances during the funeral. Nachan's son, Shamil, received special permission from the NIA court to attend, despite his incarceration.
