The Andhra Pradesh High Court issued an interim order on Tuesday, pausing all legal proceedings and investigations against YSR Congress Party leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The case involves the death of a party supporter during Reddy's recent visit to Rentapalla village in the Palnadu district.
During his June 18 journey to Rentapalla, where he met the family of a party leader who reportedly committed suicide due to alleged harassment by TDP leaders, an incident occurred. A supporter named C Singayya reportedly fell under a vehicle in Reddy's convoy and succumbed to his injuries, leading police to charge Reddy and the vehicle driver.
Reddy's counsel, Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy, announced that the court has not only suspended proceedings but also restrained police from taking coercive measures against Reddy until July 1. The court will hear the case again after two weeks. Reddy has petitioned to quash the FIR in the matter.
