The Supreme Court is poised to hear a plea from Madhya Pradesh minister Kunwar Vijay Shah regarding a high court directive to register an FIR against him following his derogatory remarks toward Indian Army officer Col Sofiya Qureshi.
A bench, overseen by Chief Justice Surya Kant, will evaluate the plea. Shah has publicly expressed regret for his statements. However, previous hearings have seen the court questioning the sincerity of Shah's apology, and expressing doubts about his intentions.
The court had earlier ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to scrutinize Shah's comments thoroughly. The SIT is set to present its findings, with statements from 27 witnesses under examination, emphasizing the need for those offended to have their voices recorded.
