In a significant legal development, a special court in Muzaffarnagar has acquitted five individuals charged in the 2009 abduction and gang-rape case of a minor Dalit girl. The court cited a lack of evidence, leading to the release of the accused.

Presiding over the case, Special Judge Asha Rani Singh concluded that the prosecution failed to substantiate the charges against Sachin, Renu Singh, Shikhar Chand, Yogendra, and Shimla. Previously, a police chargesheet had indicted seven people under serious sections of the IPC, including gang rape and kidnapping.

With the deaths of two accused individuals, Bhopal and Jagdish, during the trial, the remaining accused have now been cleared of all charges, marking a critical juncture in this prolonged legal saga.
