The heist, estimated at Rs 60 lakh, occurred on Saturday when three armed intruders barged into the home, seeking documents and stealing jewellery and dollars in cash.
Authorities soon apprehended a suspect, Alok Kumar Mishra, in Noida. Mishra, a driver for a civic body employee, was caught with the firearm used during the robbery. However, no stolen items were recovered from him, and law enforcement continues efforts to track down the other perpetrators.
The incident has shocked the community, highlighting concerns about security even in traditionally secure environments like the homes of former security personnel. As investigations proceed, police remain tight-lipped about ongoing strategies to apprehend the remaining suspects.
