A teacher has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a court after being found guilty of kidnapping and raping a teenage girl in 2020. Special Judge (POCSO) Virendra Singh presided over the case that concluded with a significant penalty for the convict, Dhananjay Verma, also known as Dhanu.
The victim, a teenager from Laar town, attended tuition sessions at the home of Dhananjay Verma, a resident of Salahabad Salempur. It was during one of these visits on October 20, 2020, that the crime took place. Verma raped the girl and kept her captive for several days.
On October 25, the girl managed to escape and informed her family about the ordeal, which led to the arrest of Dhananjay Verma. The court's decision reflects a robust stand against such crimes, underscoring the legal system's commitment to justice for victims.
