The National Helpline Against Atrocities, established to address complaints against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, has registered over 6.34 lakh calls since its inception in 2020. This was disclosed by the government on Wednesday.

Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale, highlighted that the toll-free helpline (14566) primarily aims at grievance redressal and increasing legal knowledge among SCs and STs. Notably, 2023 witnessed the highest volume with over 3.4 lakh calls.

Uttar Pradesh dominated complaint numbers with more than 3.4 lakh calls between 2020 and July 2025, followed by Bihar and Rajasthan. The helpline's data also showed a sharp escalation in use over the years, reflecting growing public awareness. Of 7,661 categorised complaints, 5,202 have been resolved, underscoring the initiative's impact in supporting marginalized groups.
