Mumbai Police have successfully apprehended a 35-year-old suspect believed to be responsible for a spree of car thefts. Identified as Junaid Yunus Shaikh, also known by his alias 'Bambaiyya', the man is accused of over 70 cases, primarily in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Shaikh's arrest followed an intensive investigation that came to light during a car theft case in Wadala. During interrogation, officials uncovered his extensive criminal history related to motoring offenses.
Authorities employed footage from more than 150 CCTV cameras in the Wadala area to pin down Shaikh after he allegedly stole a Honda City from Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg. The arrest raises questions about persistent car theft challenges in the region.
